Rick is not only a fantastic person to work with, but a wonderful writer and storyteller. He approaches his articles with passion and approaches his interviews with a great deal of knowledge and research. When I had the pleasure of being interviewed by Rick for an article, it felt like a great conversation with a friend, and it translated into a wonderfully written piece that truly told my story perfectly. Rick's love for the sport of hockey and his eagerness to promote the game, particularly the women's game, make him a valuable asset to the writing community and a MUST FOLLOW for great coverage.

For the past few Florida Panthers seasons, it has always been a pleasure to work with Rick and see him in the press box. Rick’s professionality, dedication and attention to detail for each story he writes is unprecedented. Whether it was writing a postgame article about the Panthers game or a local youth hockey story, his passion never wavered as he dedicated his time, effort and resources to crafting the well-told story.

Rick always greets the PR staff, our arena staff and other fellow writers with a big smile as he approaches everything with such a positive attitude. It’s always a pleasure working with Rick on an assignment covering the Panthers on or off the ice.

For nearly two decades, I’ve witnessed Rick’s dedication to community and youth sports in his work as a sports editor with the Sun Sentinel. He led a team of equally hardworking writers who eat, sleep and breathe everything from little league to pickleball. Rick’s passion for sports was evident behind the scenes in staff meetings as he excitedly discussed the week’s stories to the daily edits he made to articles to ensure they were not only accurate but also that all players were mentioned for their efforts. He captures the essence of the player behind the ball or puck and what they go through on their journey to athletic success.

While sports remain his forte, Rick recently made a quick and successful pivot to write about the people, places and organizations that make South Florida a better place. When I reached out to offer him story ideas that were outside the world of sports, he jumped at the opportunity to try something new. He dove into his new beat with the same determination, detail and dedication he has exhibited throughout his decades-long career in journalism. Rick puts his heart into everything he does, and that is evident in the stories he writes.
